I attended KotlinConf 2026 in Munich, from May 20 to 22 , a great developer conference with strong technical talks and direct access to the people shaping the Kotlin ecosystem.
I took the workshop on “Building AI Agents in Kotlin with Koog” ( https://github.com/JetBrains/koog ) . Where we integrated third-party tools ( Claude.ai, ChatGPT ) and agents via MCP and A2A protocols. The instructors were Vadim Briliantov, Koog Technical Lead, JetBrains, Simon Vergauwen, Developer Advocate at JetBrains & OSS (arrow-kt) Maintainer, Svetlana Isakova, Developer Advocate, JetBrains, Andrey Bragin, Senior Software Developer, Koog, JetBrains
I also had the chance to meet and take photos, selfies with several respected figures in the community

Michail Zarečenskij — Lead Language Designer for Kotlin

Svetlana Isakova — Developer Advocate at JetBrains. A fun coincidence: I was trying on a KotlinConf hoodie when she walked by, so of course I took the opportunity to say hello.

Jake Wharton ( https://github.com/jakewharton ) — one of the most influential open-source contributors in the Android/Kotlin ecosystem. Many apps on your phone likely depend, directly or indirectly, on work influenced by him.

David Denton — creator of http4k ( https://github.com/http4k/http4k )

Cyril Mottier — well-known figure in the French-speaking Android/Kotlin community
Great reminder that behind the tools we use every day, there are people deeply committed to craft, design, and community.
At the time of this writing, KotlinConf 2027 location is still not announced.
Thanks #Jetbrains for the organization.
